GLENN DRUHOT(drum set~percussion) Glen began his percussion career playing drums in high school. After graduation Glen joined the Air Force and was able to study with Warren Johnson, principal percussionist, of the USAF band in San Antonio, Texas. In 1970 Glen auditioned and was selected for the US Air Force Drum
and Bugle Corps. He spent the next decade performing with various AF Drum and Bugle Corps throughout the Southwest. He was co-founder of the very first Fife and Drum Corps in San
Antonio, Texas during this time. In 1974 Glen was selected to be a Drum And Bugle
Corps instructor for the Lackland AFB Drum and Bugle Corps. He served as an instructor until 1981. During this same time period, Glen also played drums in an eight piece Country and Western band that toured the southwest for
over 6 years. That band made
recordings in Austin, Texas. In 1981, Glen left active duty and bought into an existing
drum shop in his hometown of Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Percussion Center was a
full line specialty drum shop that sold drum kits and accessories and offered drum lessons along with percussion workshops and drum clinics. Later they began building custom drum kits. Some of the
bigger names of the popular drummers at the time were Neil Peart of Rush, Rod
Morgenstein of 38 Special and Kenny Aronoff, who played with John
Mellencamp. Return to Teachers List |
